Our students include children of all ages, teenagers, men and women. We have even taught several men who wanted to learn how to ride for hunting trips out west.

Advanced lessons offered for competition, including lessons in western horsemanship, hunter on the flat and over fences, speed events, and halter and showmanship.

All of our lessons are carefully scheduled to match students abilities and interested to others in the class and to the horse they are riding. All classes are small in size, with private and semi-private lessons being the most common.  Students who are part of our show string will often ride in larger classes however to prepare them for the showring!

TRAINING

$550 per month for horses under saddle-board included

Spring Valley Ranch offers training for horses at all stages in their lives.
Only one or two horses are accepted at a time,
insuring your horse receives the care and training you pay for!

Ground Work

Professional trainer Doreen Passuello has considerable experience with youngsters and offers a great start with ground work, including ground manners, ground driving, lunging, and beginning saddle work.

Basic Training under Saddle

For horses ready to start under saddle, Doreen offers training under saddle. Ground work is still an important part of the training for these horses, and when the horse is ready the rider is introduced.  With the basics already in place and the horse confident and reassured, Doreen has NEVER had a horse buck on the first ride!  The program for the first 30 to 60 days under saddle follows basic training on body control, correct response to the aids, bending, forward motion, and beginning balance and self carriage-no matter what discipline the horse will eventually enter. Of course, how quickly each horse progresses depends on how much he or she knows at the beginning as well as each horse's individual talent and disposition.

Problem Solving

Spoiled horse? Problems you and your horse can't seem to over come?  Call and see what Doreen can offer for you and your horse. Most problems CAN be solved with a trainer who understands horse behavior and habits. However, Doreen is also not afraid to tell an owner when she truly feels the horse and rider are NOT suited to each other and the problems they are having may be DANGEROUS to the rider.

More Advanced Training

Is your horse ready for training in a special discipline?
Spring Valley Ranch offers training in most disciplines, all again based on a balanced seat of the rider and correct self carriage for the horse. Some of the disciplines we school for and levels:
